Orange, Cranberry Cream Scones

Specks of orange zest and cranberries

What do I like about these scones? They are buttery, crumbly, moist and my kitchen smells like Christmas as they bake. The addition of orange zest + cranberries = smell of Christmas time.
This is a one bowl recipe and mixing was done using hands,  therefore washing up afterwards was kept to a minimal. The scones can be made ahead and freezes well.

Hazelnut Sourdough Cruffins

This made a real, good treat for my weekend breakfast. It was assembled the evening before and left overnight in the fridge to develop. An early morning bake ushered in a delicious start to my weekend.

50% Whole Wheat Sourdough Bread

Sourdough bread baking have become a weekly routine ever since I started my naturally leaven bread journey a year ago. I will try to bake at least 2 loaves of the bread weekly for my family and every bake is a learning experience.

Fresh Figs with Thyme Infused Honey

I like fresh figs. I like how the simple, beautiful shades of purple on the outside contrast with the complex white and pinkish structure on the inside. Fresh fig is very subtle in flavour and I like the combination of the slightly sweet, soft flesh against the crunchy, seedy and sticky interior.

Matcha Pound Cake

I love pound cake. It is a 'keep it simple' cake. You just need simple ingredients, such as fresh eggs, good butter and vanilla, and you will be rewarded with a fragrant loaf of goodness.

Cup-a-do-da-doo! Candied Orange Mini Rooster Cupcakes

This was my girl's last baking project with me before her school reopens for a new academic year. As the lunar new year fast approaches, this is the year of the rooster, she caught sight of cakes and cookies that were decorated with the rooster motif and requested to make some mini cupcakes and decorate it with simple ingredients to welcome the year of the Rooster.
